On the 8th of March 2024, International Women’s Day, a dream set in motion years ago finally took shape. Rianne Lelia Bateeze stood at the front of the studio, heart pounding with exhilaration, as she prepared to facilitate the first-ever Women’s Day Wato Movement Workshop as part of an initiative under Wellness With Her’s Mandate. It was a moment she had envisioned since she was 17—a space where women could move, release, and heal together. She deeply believed that a woman’s womb carries more than life; it carries stories, emotions, and energy that deserve to be honoured and set free.

That day was not just the beginning of a workshop; it was the birth of a movement.
The Power of Movement & Sisterhood
From the very first session, something undeniable was felt in the air. As hips swayed and feet pressed into the ground, something ancient and familiar awakened. Science may tell us that movement releases endorphins, oxytocin, and pheromones, but beyond that, the Wato Movement has become a space where women could simply be—without judgment, without pressure, just presence.

Pheromones, the unseen signals our bodies exchange, contribute to a deep sense of sisterhood. The energy of one woman moving freely encouraged the next, and soon, Wato Movement is now more than just a dance class. It was a gathering of women reclaiming their bodies, healing through rhythm, and strengthening their bonds with themselves and each other.
A Journey of Growth and Consistency
Since that first session, Wato Movement has never stood still. Every Saturday at 6 PM, the studio has filled with women ready to move, whether it was seven, ten, or forty in number. And over time, those numbers grew. More than 200 women have now stepped into this journey, across 50+ workshops, each one a unique experience, yet tied together by a common thread—consistency.

There was never a session where Rianne stood alone. Every time the clock struck 6 PM, there were hearts to feel, eyes to see, hands to hold, and stories to share. Women showed up not just for the movement, but for the connection, the release, and the reclamation of their bodies and stories.

Gratitude & Looking Ahead
None of this could have happened without the unwavering belief of the women who joined, the dedication of the team behind Wato Movement, and the passion that fuels every session. To all the women who have danced, shared, and grown together—this is your movement as much as it is Rianne’s.
As Wato Movement moves forward, the vision only expands. 2025 holds even more—new locations, fresh routines, exciting merchandise, and a greater push towards global engagement. The goal is clear: to cultivate an even bigger community, as we keep the momentum alive, and to ensure that every woman who needs this space finds her way to it.
This is just the beginning. The journey of movement, healing, and sisterhood continues.
